How to connect MyFi to your AI assistant with MCP
Want to ask about your investments in the AI assistant you already use? MyFi's MCP server makes your financial data available in a connected conversation, so you can explore your holdings, SIPs and spending in plain English.
MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is a standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data. MyFi hosts the server; you just add the connection and sign in.
MyFi's connection is read-only. It can retrieve information, but cannot buy or redeem investments, start or stop SIPs, connect a bank, or change your profile. Those actions stay in the MyFi app.
Before you start
You'll need an existing MyFi account and access to its registered mobile number for OTP verification. Your answers will depend on the data available in that account. If you haven't completed your Mutual Funds, Stocks/ETFs or Bank Account connection via the MyFi app, please do that first.
Copy this server URL exactly:
Connect MyFi to Claude
Claude supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free accounts can add one custom connector. On Team or Enterprise, an owner must first add MyFi under Organization settings → Connectors; members then connect their own accounts. See Claude's connector guide for current availability.
Open Claude on the web or desktop and go to Customize → Connectors.
Choose Add or +, then Add custom connector.
Enter MyFi as the name and paste the server URL above. Leave the advanced OAuth fields empty.
Select Continue or Add, then Connect if prompted.
On MyFi's sign-in page, enter your registered mobile number and the six-digit SMS code. Review the permissions and choose Allow access.
Start a new chat. Open + → Connectors and enable MyFi for that conversation.
Try connecting through ChatGPT's Developer mode
These steps follow OpenAI's documented MCP setup. MyFi's connection to ChatGPT has not yet been verified for this guide.
Developer mode is available on ChatGPT web for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts, subject to workspace controls. Check OpenAI's Developer mode guide if the option is missing.
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and enable Developer mode.
Open ChatGPT Plugins, select +, and name the connection MyFi. Add a short description, such as “Read my MyFi portfolio and financial data.”
Under Connection, enter the MyFi server URL. Choose OAuth if asked for an authentication method, then create the connection.
Follow the MyFi sign-in and consent prompts if they appear. If setup asks for credentials you haven't been given or authentication fails, contact MyFi for the supported configuration.
Start a new conversation, open + → Developer mode, and select MyFi.
The connection flow is covered in OpenAI's MCP setup instructions.
Ask your first question
Try one of these with MyFi enabled:
"Show my all my holdings"
"Show my SIPs and total monthly investment"
"Show my recent bank transactions"
Check that the assistant actually uses MyFi, and compare the result with your account. For balances, ask when the data was last refreshed.
A few useful pointers
Connected, but no data? Check that MyFi is enabled in the current conversation and that you signed in with the right mobile number.
Connection error? Recheck the full URL, including
/cr/mcp, with no trailing slash.OTP expired? Use Resend OTP. Repeated attempts may require a short wait.
Bank balances look old? They reflect the last successful Account Aggregator refresh, rather than a live balance. Bank transaction history is limited to the last 12 months.
Using another AI assistant? Look for remote MCP support and a compatible sign-in flow. Setup and authentication vary by app; MCP support alone doesn't confirm MyFi compatibility.
Review the requested access before connecting, and disconnect MyFi when you no longer need it. Read-only access still lets your chosen AI service receive the financial information retrieved for your questions.
